Must-Visit Christmas Markets in Knoxville

If Hallmark movies were ever set in the 65 degree south, Knoxville would surely have her moment on the silverscreen. She’s festive, adorable, and (important for this particular article) ✨brimming✨ with holiday markets. Who doesn’t want to be swept into a twinkly little world of hot cocoa, handmade goodies, and the glorious scent of cinnamon while still being able to type “nearest coffee shop to me” because you don’t need mittens in Knoxville, TN?? Talk about Christmas magic. Whether you’re hunting for the perfect cozy gift or just looking for an excuse to nibble on every festive treat in sight (no judgment here 😉), it’s time to take notes on a few of our favorite Christmas markets in Knoxville, Tennessee!

1.) Retropolitan Craft Fair

We could not come up with a better market to kick off the holiday shopping season if we triiiiied! The Retropolitan Craft Fair is BIG – she spreads all throughout the Mill & Mine and side lawn with festive cheer, local & regional makers, and hot tea & treats to boot. We truly never miss this market & always leave with at least a few folks checked off our list (& some treats for us, who are we kidding 😉).

2.) Christkindlsmarkt

Schulz Brau Brewing Co. leans into their German roots and hosts an adorable Christmas market every weekend in December! We’re suckers for magical German Christmas markets (especially when they’re tucked in one of our favorite Knoxville neighborhoods 😉), but while the market is fun peruse, you really want to come to this one for the ✨vibes.✨ We’re talkin’ igloos, visits from both Santa & Krampus, live music, fake snow — you absolutely muuust see for yourself! Christmas magic gauranteed.

FREE Craft Coffee Tasting at Five & Hoek EVERY First Friday from 1-2 PM!

Taste coffees from around the world with Five & Hoek owner, Tyler, every first Friday of the month from 1-2 pm. Learn what you like about certain coffees, how coffees are selected & how quality is maintained from roast to roast & cup to cup.

3.) Merry Makers' Market

This night market is only on its second year but if the first was any indicator, we’re all in for some sparkly Christmas magic 🥲 There will be gobs of local artists, fire pits, winter beverages galore, and yes, Santa Clause himself, all inside the historic First Christian Church (now home to West Fifth Studios & The Point Church). They say it’s an “experience akin to your wildest childhood holiday nostalgia” so ooobviously we will see you there.

4.) The Knoxville Holiday Market

Oooooh looky here, it’s a brand NEW market 👀 This December marks the inaugural Knoxville Holiday Market! They’re already a fave market in Chattanooga but they’ve finally made the trek north to bring the magic to Knoxville 😍

Notably, there will be over 150 (!!!!) booths to shop from as you get through your list with some holiday eats & tasty sips in hand.

5.) Market Square Holiday Market

Last but oh-so-extremely-not-least is the classic Market Square Holiday Market. She’s a classic for a reason, people! Not only can you browse local makers & farmers… you do so while your little elves ice skate in the middle of the square. You can pop inside a downtown gem & grab something festive from the Peppermint Trail. You can take a photo with the Gay St Christmas Tree. This is where Knoxville Hallmark movie dreams come true 🥲

More Markets for Merriment!

These may be our faaavorite, but there are pleeenty more magical markets around Knoxville! For instance, we feel like maybe the RiverView Family Farm Market should have made the list!?
